Do I need to know how to play chess already?
No. Lessons are pitched for all levels, and because you solve puzzles by moving pieces on your own interactive board, you don't need to know any chess notation to take part. Complete beginners are welcome from lesson one.
Is this for children or adults?
Both. Sessions are open to all ages — juniors, teens and adults all learn together. The ideas run deep enough to challenge club players while staying clear enough for newcomers.
What time are the lessons, and what about my timezone?
Lessons are live every Monday at 5:00–6:00pm (UK). That's early evening in the UK, and roughly 7–8pm in Central Europe. If you're elsewhere, check the time in your zone before booking. If a session ever falls at an awkward time for you, the recording has you covered.
What do I need to join?
A laptop, tablet or computer with internet, and a free Lichess account (we'll show you how to set one up). We run lessons on Google Meet and send you the link each week — nothing to install.
What if I miss a session?
Every lesson is recorded. If you book the full term you get access to all 10 recordings, so you can catch up on anything you miss or revisit a lesson whenever you like.
Can I try one lesson before committing to a term?
Absolutely. Book a single drop-in session for £15 and see if it's for you. If you love it, the full term of 10 lessons is £130 — better value per lesson.
How big are the groups?
Group sizes vary as the community grows. Sessions are designed to work whether it's a smaller, cosier group or a larger one, and there's always time for questions.
How do I pay?
You pay securely by card when you book. You'll receive a confirmation email with everything you need to join your first Monday.
When does the next term start?
The next term starts Monday 5th October 2026, running for 10 weekly Monday sessions. You can see all the dates on the How it works page.
